Natural building volunteer India – join Jeev Jantu Farm (Nagpur)

We came across this opportunity in our Facebook group and it felt right for readers who enjoy hands-on learning. Jeev Jantu Farm – also called Jeev Jantu Sustainability Learning Centre – is inviting volunteers to spend time on their farm near Nagpur, Maharashtra (India). It’s a small, community-run space focused on ecology, skill-sharing and slow living. The call is open year-round; the team asks for a minimum stay of two weeks.

What the project is about

The farm mixes natural building with daily land care and simple wellness.

Mornings often begin with yoga or stretching, then a practical session on site – rammed earth or lime work, bamboo details, plastering, planting or other maintenance – followed by breakfast. There’s usually a shorter activity block late morning, lunch around midday, rest in the heat, and another practical session in the late afternoon. Dinner is early, and lights out is around 9 p.m. Expect about five to six hours of physical, outdoor work on field days.

Food, rhythm and setting

Life here is intentionally slow. Meals are home-cooked, local and seasonal vegan dishes; volunteers can also use the kitchen. The centre sits close to wild areas with rich biodiversity. The team is upfront that snakes and scorpions can be present; they emphasise co-existence and careful behaviour. This is a placement for people who are comfortable outdoors, practical, and happy to live simply.

Who fits (and what you’ll bring)

If you’re curious about earth construction, bamboo, vegan/raw cooking, music, yoga, or just want to support a regenerative space, you’ll fit. You don’t need to be an expert: bring patience, reliability and a willingness to learn by doing. English is commonly used with volunteers; Hindi or Marathi can help.
