Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the activities, weekly hours, days off, supervision, accommodation, meals, minimum stay and any fees or contributions directly with the host.
Some projects may provide food and accommodation, while others may request a contribution towards accommodation, meals or project costs. If money is requested, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and the payment or refund conditions before making a commitment.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, collect programme fees, select volunteers, arrange visas or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas and volunteering in Indonesia
Entry and immigration requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and the activities you intend to undertake. Tourist or visa-free entry should not automatically be assumed to permit regular volunteering or a work exchange.
Indonesia currently has a C6 Social Activities Visitor Visa for certain organised social activities. It requires a sponsor and supporting information about the activities planned in Indonesia. Whether this or another immigration route is appropriate depends on the actual project and duties involved.
If the exchange involves regular duties for a school, retreat, hostel, farm or other organisation or business, ask the host which immigration arrangement applies and verify it independently through the official Indonesian Immigration information.
