How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the complete announcement. Look for the contact details at the end of the listing to find the host’s website, email address or application procedure.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, minimum stay and any fees or contributions directly with the host. Some projects may provide food and accommodation, while others may offer only part of these arrangements.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers, arrange visas or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas, volunteering and work exchanges
Australian immigration and employment rules distinguish between genuine volunteering and work. A Visitor visa does not permit normal employment, although some forms of volunteer activity may be allowed depending on the circumstances and visa conditions.
Australia’s Fair Work rules also distinguish genuine volunteering from an employment relationship. Regular productive work for a commercial business, particularly when performed according to fixed shifts or primarily for the benefit of the business, should not automatically be treated as unpaid volunteering.
This is especially relevant for exchanges involving hostels, hospitality businesses, farms and other commercial activities. Travellers eligible for a Working Holiday or Work and Holiday visa may have broader work rights, subject to the conditions of their visa.
Before travelling, check the official Australian visa information and, for unpaid work questions, the Fair Work Ombudsman guidance on unpaid work and volunteering.

Important: project availability, visa conditions, accommodation arrangements and the legal status of an exchange can change. Confirm current information directly with the host and relevant official authorities before making travel or financial commitments.
