Some projects are seasonal, particularly those connected with tourism, farming and outdoor activities, so always check the publication date and confirm current availability directly with the host or organisation.
How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the full announcement carefully. Check the publication date, activity dates and any application deadline before contacting the host.
To apply or request more information, look for the contact details at the end of the listing. Depending on the project, these may include an official website, email address or application form.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Some projects may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality in exchange for a limited number of hours of help. Other opportunities may have different arrangements, so always confirm exactly what is included before making a commitment.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
European volunteering programmes
Some opportunities in Sweden may be organised through structured European programmes such as the European Solidarity Corps. Depending on the project and eligibility conditions, these programmes may include accommodation, food, insurance, travel support and pocket money.
You can also browse European Solidarity Corps volunteering opportunities and volunteering opportunities with pocket money.
Visas and volunteering in Sweden
Entry and residence requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and the nature of the activities. Do not assume that visa-free or tourist entry automatically covers every type of volunteering or work exchange.
For certain volunteer activities, a work permit is not normally required. However, non-EU or non-EEA citizens may still need a visa or residence permit depending on the duration and circumstances of their stay.
If you plan to volunteer in Sweden for more than 90 days, you may need a visitor’s residence permit. Specific documentation can also apply to European Solidarity Corps volunteers and other organised volunteer programmes.
Check the current requirements through the Swedish Migration Agency information for volunteers before travelling.
Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Farming, construction, animal care, outdoor work and other practical activities may not automatically be covered by every standard travel policy.
If the project is located in northern Sweden or another remote area, ask about transport, suitable clothing, accommodation, access to essential services and emergency arrangements before arrival.
If a contribution or deposit is requested, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making any payment.
For additional general guidance, read Voluntouring’s information about safety and legality in volunteering and work exchanges.
Important: project availability, accommodation arrangements, immigration requirements and insurance conditions can change. Confirm current information directly with the host and consult relevant official sources before making travel or financial commitments.
