What is a non-profit organization?
Non-profit entities are part of the so-called Third Sector. Bodies and organizations that qualify as nonprofitย are subjects characterized by a series of common elements such as:
- the pursuit of socially relevant and public utility purposes;
- lack of profit and distribution of profits;
- private nature;
- use of all resources to achieve one’s goal.
- They are organizations that combine the absence of profit with an altruistic intent and that dedicate themselves to socially useful and relevant activities in various sectors such as cultural, research, education, assistance, health, environmental.
Non-profit entities can be structured in different legal forms, such as:
- recognized associations
- associations not recognized
- foundations
- committees
- voluntary organizations
- social cooperatives
- non-governmental organizations
- social promotion associations
From a fiscal point of view, non-profit entities can take one of the following tax qualifications:
- non-commercial entity
- commercial entity
- ONLUS
