Explore volunteering opportunities in Slovakia, including work exchanges, community initiatives, environmental projects and other independent volunteering experiences.
Projects may be based in Bratislava, smaller towns or rural areas across the country. Some opportunities may be seasonal, archived or no longer active, so always check the publication date and confirm current availability directly with the host or organisation.
How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the full announcement carefully. Check the publication date, activity dates and any application deadline before contacting the host.
To apply or request more information, look for the contact details at the end of the listing. Depending on the project, these may include an official website, email address or application form.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Some projects may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality in exchange for a limited number of hours of help. Conditions vary between hosts, so do not assume that every opportunity includes free food and accommodation.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Visas and volunteering in Slovakia
Entry and residence requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and the nature of the volunteering activity. Do not assume that visa-free or tourist entry automatically permits every type of volunteering or work exchange.
For non-EU nationals taking part in formal voluntary service, Slovakia has specific residence provisions for voluntary activities. Longer placements may require temporary residence for the purpose of a special activity and an agreement with the host organisation describing the volunteering programme, duration, conditions, supervision and time dedicated to the activities.
For shorter stays, different rules may apply depending on your nationality and legal basis for staying in Slovakia. Check the current requirements through the EU Immigration Portal information for volunteers in Slovakia and the relevant Slovak authorities before travelling.
Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Farming, construction, animal care, outdoor activities and other forms of practical work may not automatically be covered by every standard travel policy.
If a host requests a contribution or deposit, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making any payment. Keep sufficient personal funds for transport and an unexpected early departure.
For additional general guidance, read Voluntouring’s information about safety and legality in volunteering and work exchanges.
Important: project availability, accommodation arrangements, visa requirements and insurance conditions can change. Confirm current information directly with the host and consult relevant official sources before making travel or financial commitments.
