Projects may be located in Brussels, Flanders, Wallonia or smaller towns and rural areas across the country. Some opportunities may be seasonal, archived or no longer active, so always check the publication date and confirm current availability directly with the host or organisation.

Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers, manage payments or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
Accommodation, contributions and pocket money
Some volunteering and work exchange opportunities may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality in exchange for a limited number of hours of help. Other projects may request a contribution or have different arrangements. Always confirm exactly what is included before making a commitment.
Structured programmes may provide accommodation, food, insurance, travel support or pocket money depending on the project and eligibility conditions.
Older listings may still refer to the European Voluntary Service (EVS), the former EU volunteering programme that preceded the European Solidarity Corps.
Visas and volunteering in Belgium
Entry, residence and volunteering requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay, host type and the activities you intend to undertake. Do not assume that visa-free entry or a short-stay Schengen visa automatically permits every type of volunteering or work exchange.
For non-EU nationals participating in certain formal voluntary service schemes recognised by the European Union, Belgium has a specific authorisation procedure. The host organisation normally starts the application with the competent regional authority, and a long-stay visa may be required where applicable.
Informal hospitality exchanges should be considered separately. Helping a private host, farm, guesthouse or other organisation in exchange for accommodation or meals does not automatically mean that the activity is legally classified as volunteering. If the activities resemble regular productive work, check whether work authorisation or another immigration procedure applies.

Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Farming, construction, animal care, outdoor work and other practical activities may not automatically be covered by every standard travel policy.
If a contribution or deposit is requested, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making any payment.
