Volunteer with cats in Dahab, Egypt – summer help needed! ðŸū

Originally shared in our Facebook group, this volunteer opportunity comes from Dahab Cats, a small, donation-based non-profit sanctuary located in Dahab, a beach town on the Gulf of Aqaba in South Sinai, Egypt. The team is currently looking for self-motivated volunteers to help care for rescued cats and kittens. If you’ve got love to give and some time this summer, this is a chance to make a real difference in a place where help is always needed.

About the project

Dahab Cats rescues sick, injured, abandoned, and vulnerable cats, providing care, treatment, and adoption support. They also run a small “cat hotel” for pets whose owners are travelling, and offer advice and community outreach in the area.

The non-profit is run by Gillian, originally from the UK, who moved to Dahab in 2017 after falling in love with the place and the cats that needed her help. Today, she and a small team care for around 60 cats and kittens across two simple, home-based sanctuaries.

Volunteer tasks ðŸ‘Ģ

Volunteers may be asked to help with:

  • Feeding, medicating, and socialising cats and kittens
  • Cleaning shelters and cat areas
  • Preparing cats for adoption or travel
  • Upcycling, DIY tasks, and keeping the space tidy
  • Welcoming visitors or supporting hotel guests (if needed)
What’s provided 🛏ïļ
  • Free shared accommodation
  • Utilities and Wi-Fi
  • Lots of feline cuddles
  • Food is not included.

Volunteers are asked to contribute 25 hours per week, with plenty of time off to enjoy Dahab’s coral reefs, beaches, and laid-back vibe.

Stay duration:
  • 2–6 weeks, preferably during the summer.
Location 📍

Dahab is a relaxed town on the edge of the Red Sea, known for its diving, desert mountains, and friendly expat community. It’s easy to fall in love with, and even easier to stay longer than planned.
