Smile Academy is an educational social enterprise located three Km from the city centre along the way to Angkor Wat temple. We are seeking help with English, marketing, selling and educational research. Updated November 2023 โย My name is Kimsorn Ngam. At 40 years old, I hail from a rural part of Siem Reap province in Cambodia. As a child, I left the comfort of my family in pursuit of education in the city. This early departure meant that while most kids were experiencing the warmth of family, I was navigating life and academics on my own.
Driven by the challenges of my youth, I dedicated myself to education. I eventually earned a Master’s in TESOL and was fortunate enough to travel across Europe, America, and Asia through various scholarship programs. It’s my firm belief that education has the power to transform lives, which is why I founded SmILe Academy. Here, we offer courses in English, Chinese, computer skills, and essential life skills to children in our community.
However, our academy is currently facing budget constraints, and I am earnestly seeking volunteers who can help impart English and other skills to our students. Volunteer expectations
Volunteers are expected to be honest, have a high commitment, and flexibility, and respect local culture and child protection policies at the SmILe Academy.
Are accommodation and food included?
Only accommodation
We are booking a private room for different gender volunteers, unless volunteers want to do culture exchange he/she can share a room

Fees transparency
We will not charge any cost unless volunteers want to join us for Khmer food with our family. In this case, we require aย $50/month contribution for two meals a day.

Volunteers’ benefits
Free accommodation; we will also directly work with a lovely Khmer team to learn and exchange cultures and work. Once a month, free entrance teacher’s workshop and visit partner-schools arrangement.
What to do in your free time
Volunteers are recommended to visit the temples in the nearby school and the floating village, etc.
