The Albergue Quinta Estrada Romana is a hostel on the Camino Portugues de Santiago – Central (Portuguese Way of Saint James). You will meet many interesting international people who are walking on a beautiful way of spiritual heritage through the Portuguese countryside and nature. Everyone in their very own way and with their very own story.

Who are the hospitaleros? ๐ฏ
They are individuals dedicated to aiding, serving, and tending to the needs of pilgrims on the Way of Saint James. Without their assistance, the journey to Santiago would be challenging. These individuals play an important role in making the pilgrimage possible and contribute significantly to the memorable experiences that pilgrims carry with them. The Hospitaleros are genuine guardian angels of the Camino.
We are looking for individuals with Camino experience, who want to engage in this beautiful “mission”!
How many volunteers could you host? ๐

When do you usually need volunteers? ๐
- From March to September
How many hours of help per day? โฑ
- 8 hours of help per day (Full Time)
How many days of help per week? ๐
- 5 days per week – 2 days off
Note about the volunteer work and other expectations ๐
We are looking for a kind, talkative, honest and practical person, who speaks English and preferably a Latin language (Portuguese or Spanish). The work is making beds, cleaning, washing sheets etc in the morning from about 9h to 12h check-ing pilgrims in in the afternoon and helping at the communal dinner.

You will be paid the national minimum wage, in addition to the accommodation and breakfast.

Nearby there is a waterfall (one hour walking, 10 minutes by car), Minho River, Moledo beach (15 minutes by train) for surf classes.

How to get to your site โ ๐บ
There is a direct Bus from Porto Airport to Valenรงa, and from there by tรกxi (5 minutes) or walking following the blue arrows on the Camino de Santiago, to Fatima(7 km).
If you never walked the Portuguese Camino we ask you to walk from Porto to our Albergue which takes 4 days (we can arrange to pick up your luggage, so you just need a small backpack). Like that, you can get to know the Way and what pilgrims are walking.
