We are looking for a volunteer from April

We are looking for a volunteer from April to help with garden projects (incl. a large lily pond, water run, and landscaping) as well as general garden work (incl. weeding, clearing, and vegetable beds) plus dealing with tree damage after the last winter storm (chopping/sawing wood) and maybe some small DIY jobs.

• about 20-25 hours per week
• bicycle available to use
• transfer at arrival/departure
• Start April 2022 for a minimum of 1 month
• Private room/bathroom with usually kitchen use offered

General description

We would like our guest/volunteer to help us with garden projects like an extended lily pond with a water run and wee beach, discover and develop a former stable area, convert storm-damaged trees into seating areas and firewood, create vegetable beds etc. In general, it will be as well digging and weeding, greenhouse cleaning/watering, working with trees and large shrubs, clearing overgrown garden areas, lawnmowing, and some handyman jobs, all as required.

Activities are usually morning based.

You need to be flexible as the work is often governed by the weather. There are jobs to suit all abilities and bigger projects for those who are staying longer to get stuck into. We never ask you to do anything we wouldn’t do ourselves and most of the time we work together.

It can be messy, so bring working clothes, good comfy boots and waterproofs if you can.

We prefer non-smokers. 🚭

Diet

Basic food is provided; some meals especially a hot lunch will be prepared for you if you like but usually, your accommodation is self-catering.

Things to do in your free time

If you are into mountains, lochs, seashores and a peaceful retreat, we would love to have you stay with us! We love to share our experiences as a German and a Polish falling in love with Scotland some 25 years ago and help you in any possible way to dig into our beloved chosen country of residence. You might like to join us on our outings incl. mushroom hunting, farmer market shopping, beach strolling, etc.

Privacy is important for us as we give you as well plenty of private time to explore!
