Volunteer in a centre for research and creation

La SOURCE, an international and interdisciplinary artistic research and residency centre dedicated to the contemplation, definition, understanding, culture and practice of love begins the second phase of its development.  This summer, we are looking for volunteers to help with several construction projects leading up to the centre’s opening in October.

La SOURCE
Situated in the department of Finistère, France between the natural reserve of Les Monts d’Arrée and the beaches of the Celtic Sea, La SOURCE is a converted farm, once known as “Le Tisserand du Cosquer” (the weaver of the old village). The property, as a flax farm and linen mill, was once part of a thriving local industry that supplied the merchant ships and fishing boats of the region with their linen sails.

Within close driving distance of several small cities, beautifully preserved historic sites, and charming villages – the site of La SOURCE is a hidden paradise just far enough from civilization to be peaceful, and yet still close enough to remain connected to the world. ​We are a bilingual campus (both French & English), and at only 3.5 hours by train to the centre of Paris, we can host participants arriving from every corner of the world.

La SOURCE is built to be a sanctuary of co-creation and learning.

We have worked diligently to envision an environment that supports harmony within ourselves, between one another and with our environment. Our project/property development begins in February of 2021 with the evolution of the south campus (everything below the road, Cosquer), and continues in 2023 with the expansion of the north campus (everything above the road).

The dates

Volunteer Season is between February 15, 2021 – September 30, 2021

The volunteer exchange

Volunteers must commit to staying a minimum of 2 weeks and agree to volunteer 5 hours of work, 5 days each week. Exceptionally, as it is the build-up phase of the project, Volunteers can stay up to 3 months.

La SOURCE is searching for VOLUNTEERS to help with the development and care of the property. Volunteers live and work on the property, for between 1 – 4 weeks during summer months (with the possibility of extension) between May 15 – September 15, and agree to provide assistance in one of 6 areas of coordination.​

Benefits

​Beyond being a wonderful way to participate in the project, it’s also a chance to visit the area, swim in the ocean, hike Les Monts d’Arrée, and ‘play the tourist’ without paying for lodging during vacation season.

​Exceptionally, Build-Up Volunteers are also welcome and will be especially important in the Spring of 2021, from February 15 – May 15, as the initial team to assist with preparing the property for the project. This is a chance to be part of the beginning and to fill the place with love before it opens for activity.
