What is maintenance? 🛠️🔧
Maintenance is the routine care and repair used to keep a building, property, facility or piece of equipment in good working condition. It can include minor repairs, painting, fixing furniture, caring for outdoor structures and other practical upkeep.
Maintenance, renovation and construction
These activities can overlap, but maintenance usually focuses on keeping something that already exists in good condition. Renovation generally involves more substantial restoration or improvement, while Construction can involve creating or significantly modifying structures.
Practical work can involve tools, ladders, heavy materials and other hazards. Ask what tasks are involved, what instruction and protective equipment are provided, and do not undertake electrical, gas, structural, major plumbing or other specialist work beyond your experience or any qualifications required locally.
