Off-grid family farm in south Portugal, sustainable building and rural life

We bought the land in 2018 and for them we build it, renovation of ruins, have neutral building courses, parties, concert and much more. It’s an off-grid farm always in progress. Because we are all the time developing and building, we need to adapt to the off-grid life, for us is the best life :). We are in the middle of the forest, no village around, and we appreciate the quiet, the clean air, the birds singing, and the forest.

Notes about the work, schedule, and house rules (optional)

From 9 to 13 and 16-17. We usually start to work at 9:00 until 13:00, and then sometimes also in the afternoon. We choose our mission according to the needs of the farm, the special talent of the volunteers, the weather, and what is good for all. We don’t work on Saturday and Sunday. In the first 2 days, the volunteers make there van to their homes with our support.

What type of accommodation can you provide? 🏕

We have 2 vans for the volunteers, one for singles and the other for couples, including a kitchen, a bed, and a place to sit outside. The double van has a shower. We also have outside kitchens, a compost toilet, and an outside shower with hot water. Both of the vans have good internet.

Diet – nutrition information 🥗🥤

We supply the basic food products and you cook for yourself. We provide dry and fresh food for all the meals, with the volunteers we make a list and buy it. If there is a special diet, we can modify the list according to that. Extras like sweets, cigarettes, the volunteers are making there on food.

What volunteers receive (in addition to food/accommodation) 🏆🏅

Spa night in the winter every Friday, with sauna, hot tub, fire, and great atmosphere, the volunteers get it for free. In the summer, there is parties, concerts, and natural building workshops.

What are the available activities during free time? 🚴🚣🦒

Nearby hikes. We are a family, so afternoon and evening are usually the time for our family, so volunteers need to love being with themself. In some evenings, we have movie night or ping pong games. Also, because we are in the middle of the forest, we are usually ones a day or 2 going out to shopping and things, so there is always a supply. On the weekend, we go to the markets, to the beach, or to the interesting events that happen around.
