We need volunteers to create a mountain camp/farm, to give opportunities to local and foreign people of enjoying nature and farm activities, and learn about Costa Rican traditions, including activities with indigenous communities.

General info

We offer practical Spanish lessons by talking every day.
Also, people will learn about Costa Rican traditions as the project by itself is about to create a lot of areas related with some local tradition, for example, we want to build a “trapiche” (a rustic system used to extract sugar cane).

The project is at the mountain, but volunteers will be able to go to the beach, as the owners live there. Both places are rural, so that increase the possibility of learning very traditional things (activities, food, etc). The local people are very kind and like to share experiences with visitors.

The project also includes to involve indigenous communities from the town into activities to share their culture to visitors, so one of the attracting thing for volunteers is to learn about their way of life, that is very interesting. They also talk about native dialect.

People also will learn to cook traditional food from Costa Rica.

Will have access to activities like:

• tropical dancing,
• free surf lessons,
• horseback riding,
• hiking,
• and a lot of entertainment.

People have to be able to do hard work (like working with wood, planting, and dealing with farm animals).

Diet

We offer Costa Rican food (rice, beans, vegetables, meat). Also, we can offer a lot of international dishes like pasta, hamburgers, sándwich, etc.

What to do in the free time

Hiking, trail running, swimming (river), tubing at the river, horseback riding, fishing. When come to the beach they could have free surf lessons, swimming and fishing at the ocean.

Language

Spanish, but we speak a little English if needed

Geographic environment

The work is in a mountain about 7 miles from the main road and 10 miles from the beach. There are no stores nearby, just the house and one neighbor around (0,4 miles).
The farm has a river very closely.

How to get to your site

The place is located in Dos Bocas, Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica. We get there by car.

Is there internet access?

Yes, but not very strong.
