Volunteer photographers and editors are usually offered board and lodging. In developing countries, participation as a volunteer may require a financial contribution to be agreed upon with the host organisation. Voluntouring does not intervene as a mediator and does not receive any remuneration from the organisations or hosts when a volunteer is selected.
