Experience a farm community lifestyle in a tropical environment
Volunteer opportunity in Ecuador at Finca Mono Verde โ We believe that sharing knowledge, experiences and friendship with people from all over the world is one way to make a real difference. Farming, gardening, canning foods and preparing meals together are also a chance to connect, learn, and build community.
The farm focuses mainly on coffee production and passion fruit. Our kitchen garden is always a work in progress, with different species used for home preparations. Depending on the season we also have fruit such as mango, oranges, lime and jackfruit. Plantain and yucca roots are part of our diet, and we also use edible leaves from the wild when available.
What you can help with
Help varies with the season and priorities. Activities can include gardening and agriculture, small building tasks and repairs, food preparation, and support during workshops about organic farming and coffee production. There can also be time working with young people from the community, supporting school, languages, arts and sports.
Community connections
We are closely connected with a local farmersโ cooperative (AGROTABUGA). There are often opportunities to lend a hand with coffee processing such as harvesting, drying, roasting, or simply sharing a coffee together. Sometimes neighbours may ask for support with a specific task, and we try to help when we can.
About the farm
Finca Mono Verde is a tropical learning and experimentation farm in Tabuga, coastal Ecuador. We work with agroforestry and coffee, and we aim to support a stronger, healthier local community through learning, collaboration and practical work. You can join through volunteering, a custom internship, research, or knowledge sharing.
