Our Mission is to improve Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and livelihoods for Adolescent Girls and young women. You will be part of an ongoing initiative fighting gender inequality in Africa by making communities more aware of gender issues at the grassroots level.

You will receive three fresh and delicious meals a day cooked by a local family host. For breakfast, you can expect cereal and toast, along with a cooked option such as eggs, pancakes or French toast. Lunch could be a wrap, pizza or sandwich paired with a fresh crispy salad. For dinner, you might have a pasta dish, curry with rice or an authentic stew. Vegetarian options are available and we can cater to most dietary requirements. At weekends you can access the kitchen to make your own food.

  • You will usually be served 3 local meals a day for $15.
  • Accommodation costs $25 per week.
  • There will be airport pick up (to the project site and drop off) Transport to and from the projects/field is included in the program fee ($450) as you can read more from the orientation package on request

What are the available activities during free time? ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿšฃ๐Ÿฆ’

Over the weekend volunteers have time to visit local excellent tourist attractions such as lakes, game parks, museums, cultural sites, entertainment spots, mountains, and beaches or go for a safari in the country with the assistance of an experienced field officer.

Kenya is one of the safest countries in Africa, and Kenyan people are very warm and friendly towards foreigners. Githurai is a composition of densely populated, urban, mixed-use settlements located at the border of Nairobi County and Kiambu County along the Thika Road. The wet season begins in November and goes on until May, but there are a couple of dry months in January and February. Days are often overcast, with showers in the afternoon, and chilly mornings with temperatures that hover around 13ยฐC (55ยฐF).
The dry season is from June to October. Youโ€™ll enjoy warm weather during the day, although there may be a shower or two at times and cold weather at night

How to get to your site โœˆ ๐Ÿ—บ

We organize airport pick-ups for our volunteers, and all you need to do is provide our staff with your flight details and then meet up with our Volunteer coordinator at the airport. Upon your arrival, you will be picked up and taken to your respective host Family, this is something you need to budget for, it will cost you 30$ per person.
Our Volunteer Coordinator will be more than happy to assist you in booking the necessary transportation.
