Zonca is a small historic village in the Antrona Valley, in northern Italy, surrounded by forest, mountain slopes, and wide alpine views. Over time, part of the village was left abandoned, but a community of residents and supporters has tried to give it new life. Their idea has been to care for the old stone houses, restore spaces step by step, and build a more sustainable way of living in close contact with nature.
The aspiration behind Zonca is to repair buildings, and create a place based on cooperation, simple living, shared meals, practical skills, and respect for the land. Projects linked to gardening, restoration, hospitality, and low-impact rural life have often been part of this vision. This makes Zonca interesting not only as a mountain village, but as an example of how forgotten places can inspire community-led renewal.
