Wildcamp in Canada: summer volunteering with Camp Outlook

Volunteer as a canoe trip leader with Camp Outlook in Ontario, Canada, and spend the summer leading wilderness trips for at risk youth.

The charity takes teenagers on 5, 9 and 14 day canoe journeys in Algonquin and Frontenac Provincial Parks, giving them a chance to build confidence, outdoor skills and friendship in nature. As a volunteer you join a small, supportive team that provides full training, including canoe skills, wilderness first aid and youth work basics. Accommodation, food and trip costs are covered while you are in camp, so you only need motivation, curiosity and a love of the outdoors. No previous guiding experience is required, only a willingness to learn, work in a team and spend several weeks living simply in the forest and on the lakes. It is an intense but very rewarding way to gain leadership experience and make a real difference for young people.
