Rural movement India VCDM | volunteer project

Group of Indian hosts and international volunteers sitting on the floor around metal plates, sharing a simple home cooked meal in a rural village in Maharashtra, India.

This project is linked to VCDM, a long-running farmer and citizen movement in rural Maharashtra, India.

Volunteers support communication for village development projects that focus on womenโ€™s empowerment, girlsโ€™ education and ecological work. The main tasks are filming short videos about local initiatives in different villages and designing posters or presentations that help explain the work to donors and communities. In exchange, volunteers receive food and accommodation in Pune and stay with villagers during field visits, always accompanied by a local English and Marathi speaker. The role suits creative, socially minded people who have basic experience with video, storytelling or design and who want to understand rural India from the inside. The original call was for a two-month mission in April and May 2020, so conditions and dates now need to be checked directly with the organizers.
