NVP English Medium School is a small primary school in the village of Nimbi Jodha, Tehsil Ladnu, in the rural Nagaur district of Rajasthan, India. It was founded by a group of local teachers and supporters who want to create a role model school for rural children.

The school currently has more than 150 students and offers classes from pre-primary upwards. The team is looking for international volunteers who would like to share skills, support the children and experience everyday life in an Indian village.

Why the school needs help

The vision of NVP English Medium School is that every child in the area receives the quality education they deserve and that no one is left behind. Volunteers are invited to help strengthen teaching and to bring new ideas and energy to the school community.

Types of help

Depending on your skills and interests you may support:

  • Teaching English or helping with conversation practice.
  • Yoga, arts, music or dance activities.
  • Painting and decorating classrooms and school walls.
  • Planting trees, grass and a school garden.
  • Sports and games with the children.
  • Light fundraising ideas for small school projects.
  • Developing or updating the school website and social media.

The team is open to suggestions, so you can also propose other creative projects that fit the needs of the school.

What volunteers receive

All volunteers receive free basic food and accommodation.

  • Simple accommodation in the village and clean, pollution-free air.
  • Organic vegetarian food and fresh local dairy products.
  • 24/7 support and one day of orientation before you start.
  • Informal Hindi practice if you are interested.
  • A real experience of rural life and the chance to stay with host families.
  • Possibility to apply later for a paid teaching position if there is a need.

Visa information

Important: Visa rules for India can change and depend on your nationality and the nature of your stay. The school can provide basic paperwork or an invitation letter to support your visa application, but volunteers are responsible for checking official Indian immigration information and applying for the correct visa themselves.

When can you start?

The school looks for volunteers throughout the year and usually welcomes people who can stay at least a few weeks. Longer stays are very appreciated so that the children can build trust and continuity with their teachers.
