Horse expedition 🐎🏕️
Explore horse expedition opportunities, long-distance equestrian journeys and travel stories where moving with horses over several stages is a substantial part of the experience. Some projects may look for experienced riders or helpers with horse care, camps, equipment and route logistics.
This is more specific than general horse volunteering or recreational riding. Always check whether the opportunity is a volunteer exchange, a shared journey, a paid role or a commercial riding experience before making travel plans.
What is a horse expedition? 🐎🏕️
A horse expedition is a journey in which travelling with horses over a route is central to the experience, often over several days or stages. It may involve riding or walking with horses, camping, horse care, carrying equipment and adapting daily plans to terrain, weather and the animals’ needs.
Horse expedition, riding and horsemanship
A project does not belong here simply because volunteers can ride horses. Horse riding is the broader activity, while Horsemanship focuses on horse handling, riding and practical skills. Horse expedition is specifically for journeys where travelling with horses is a defining feature.
