The project
Phu House is a hub where backpackers and locals gather to eat, drink, dance, and explore the island together.
Volunteers can get involved in different areas depending on their skills and personality. Some join the bar and kitchen team, learning the rhythm of hospitality and helping guests enjoy food and drinks in a social setting. Others bring their instruments or DJ sets and perform live, becoming part of the hostel’s music culture for a few weeks or longer. For those who prefer the sea, there’s also the chance to join the boat tours, helping travelers discover Phu Quoc from the water while learning about tourism and sales in a relaxed, adventure-driven environment.
Life as a volunteer
Volunteers are welcomed into the hostel’s community with free accommodation and meals, a lively atmosphere, and plenty of opportunities to meet new people. Each role requires energy, openness, and a willingness to connect. For the musicians and DJs, a minimum of two weeks of performances is expected, while boat crew and F&B helpers usually commit for longer stays.

Phú Quốc is Vietnam’s largest island, set in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, known for its palm-lined beaches, coral reefs and laid-back fishing villages. Tourism has grown in recent years here, but Phú Quốc still offers plenty of wild corners, night markets, and a tropical rhythm that makes it a favourite stop for backpackers and volunteers alike.
