ESC Art Volunteering in Poland
Central Hajnówka, also known as the Station of Culture, is a vibrant cultural space located in a renovated train station in Hajnówka, eastern Poland. It’s run by the cultural association “Pocztówka” and serves as a hub for artistic, ecological, and community activities. The center regularly hosts volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps program.
One of the main volunteering opportunities there is a short-term project called “Art Autumn & Nature,” which lasts for 56 days. Volunteers in this program work on an agroforestry vegetable garden, participate in eco-friendly workshops, and help organize creative and theatrical events. No prior experience is needed, and training is provided. Volunteers live in a hostel on-site, sharing rooms with others.
Another option is a long-term placement lasting about 10 months. Volunteers take part in the organization of cultural events, performances, art workshops, and even language cafés. Although having artistic experience is a plus, it’s not required. Accommodation is arranged in a shared flat close to the organization’s office.
There is also a two-month project focused on cultural exchange. Volunteers help with preparing lessons for children, organizing community events, creating costumes, and supporting the local language café. Travel, food, and personal expenses are all covered under the European Solidarity Corps framework.
Hajnówka itself is a small town located next to the Białowieża Forest, one of Europe’s last remaining primeval forests and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This setting offers a unique experience for anyone interested in nature, culture, and working closely with both local residents and other international volunteers.
