Volunteering in Wadi Rum Desert with a bedouin – My name is Eid, and I run a local Bedouin-owned tour operator business and desert camp in the heart of Wadi Rum. We offer jeep tours, camel rides, hiking, stargazing, and traditional Bedouin experiences. I’m looking for volunteers to help me grow my online presence by supporting with:
- Social media content (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
- Website content writing or editing
- Photography and video creation of our activities and tours
You’ll get the chance to live like a local, explore the desert with me and my team, and help share our culture with the world.

Our mission is to share the beauty of Wadi Rum and the Bedouin way of life with travelers from around the world, while supporting local tourism and preserving our cultural heritage. By inviting volunteers to join us, we aim to create a cultural exchange that helps our small business grow online and gives guests a deeper, more authentic desert experience.

Volunteers will enjoy traditional Bedouin meals prepared fresh daily. Our food usually includes rice, vegetables, bread, lentils, beans, salads, and sometimes meat or chicken. If you have any special dietary needs, just let us know – we’re happy to adapt and make sure you feel comfortable and well-fed.

No, there are no fees to join our volunteer project.
The only cost volunteers need to cover is the Wadi Rum Protected Area entry ticket, which is paid at the Wadi Rum Visitor Center (around 5 JD, free with the Jordan Pass). Everything else – accommodation, meals, tours, and local experiences – is provided free of charge.

The area is renowned for its striking red sand dunes, rock formations, and unique geological features. It’s a protected area, rich in history and natural beauty, offering a stunning backdrop for outdoor activities and exploration.
- Weather: Wadi Rum has a desert climate with hot summers and cool winters. Summer temperatures can soar above 40°C (104°F), while winter nights can get chilly, sometimes dropping below freezing.
- Environment: The desert is home to a variety of wildlife, including foxes, lizards, and many bird species. It’s also an area with significant cultural importance, with ancient petroglyphs and Nabatean inscriptions scattered across the rocks.
The environment is serene and peaceful, offering a truly immersive experience in nature.

How to get to your site ✈ 🗺
Volunteers can easily reach Wadi Rum by various modes of transportation:
- By bus: You can take a bus from Aqaba, Petra or Amman to Wadi Rum Village.
- By car: If you’re driving, follow the signs to Wadi Rum. Once you reach Wadi Rum Village, I will be waiting for you at the Wadi Rum Rest House, which is located at the only entrance to the village.
My place is just off the main road, on the first small street to the right when you enter the village. It’s easy to find, close to shops, and very convenient for volunteers.
