Established by former Peace Corps volunteers, the farm spans 22 acres and operates within the dry tropical forest ecosystem. It serves as a demonstration and educational center, focusing on sustainable agricultural practices, natural building techniques, and community engagement.

Volunteers at Finca Mono Verde participate in various activities, including farm maintenance, agroforestry, and community projects. The farm offers a minimum two-week stay for volunteers, with a fee of $40 per week per person. This fee covers accommodation and meals, providing an immersive experience in sustainable living.
