A charity project in Uganda is in need of volunteers for a cultural exchange
We are a volunteer project in Uganda – we are Nest of Joy, a community based not for profit organisation that actively empowers the most vulnerable to live with greater independence, dignity and freedom from poverty, disease, and hunger. Using a hands approach with help from volunteers, community members and religious leaders, we are able to create positive change through provisions of education to disadvantaged children and other forms of support to communities with a focus on women and orphans headed households in urban and rural Uganda.
Become part of our community and experience true African Culture. – Share your knowledge and skills teaching orphaned and other disadvantaged children and young adults or help in our various community outreach programmes all while enjoying Uganda’s unique hospitality and natural beauty.
In the schools, volunteers may teach a class, play sports, read with children or help in the development of the school โ you can use your skills and initiative to really make a difference. The Community Outreach Programme involves visiting families and local groups to provide support and help improve their way of life in sustainable ways.

Geography
Hailed as the โPearl of Africaโ by Winston Churchill, Uganda is a country of staggering beauty โ a lush green land whose stunning, diverse countryside supports incredible wildlife such as lions, elephants, cape buffalos, leopards, rhinoceros, and half of the worldโs population of Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees.
How to get to your site
Volunteers from abroad generally land at Entebbe international airport which is 30 minutes by car to Kampala city centre, a few arrive to Kampala by bus from neighbouring countries such as Kenya and Rwanda. Once in Kampala pick up can be arranged. Pick up from the Airport can be arranged but usually at the volunteer’s cost due to limited resources. Generally, an Uber from the airport to Kampala city centre costs no more than $25. Minibus Taxis or matatus are way cheaper but not recommended for first-time users.
Is there internet access?
Yes!
“Paying guests” Option. Could you accommodate “solidarity” tourists?
No, we cannot accommodate paying guests. We only need volunteers
