Explore sports volunteer opportunities involving coaching, physical education, community sports programmes, outdoor activities and sporting events around the world.
Projects may include football academies, martial arts centres, sports clubs, schools, youth programmes and organisations looking for help with training, event preparation or recreational activities. Some roles require previous experience or qualifications, while others involve supervised assistance.
What counts as sports volunteering? ⚽🏀
Sports volunteering involves helping organise, teach, supervise or support sporting activities. This may include coaching, physical education, maintaining sports equipment, assisting at competitions or facilitating organised recreational programmes.
Volunteering in sports programmes
Depending on the project, volunteers may lead training sessions, assist qualified coaches, organise games, maintain equipment or support the administration of sporting events.
For example, a sports teaching programme in South Korea has combined physical education with English-language activities, while WAVO in Ghana has included a football academy among its community projects.
Sports programmes may be volunteer exchanges, funded placements or paid positions. Check the actual responsibilities and arrangements rather than assuming they all follow the same model.
