On Voluntouring.org, this tag is best used when education, learning support or educational outreach is a genuine part of the volunteer role or project. Teaching is one form of educational volunteering, but education can also include tutoring, literacy activities, workshops, learning materials and supervised community learning. A project should not receive this tag simply because the host teaches volunteers practical skills during their stay.
Roles, qualifications and safeguarding
Educational roles vary considerably. Some volunteers assist local educators or support informal activities, while formal teaching or specialist educational support may require relevant qualifications or experience. Volunteers should not replace qualified staff or take responsibility for activities beyond their training.
