Volunteering opportunities in Cambodia  – Imagine a dense tropical forest, vines gently descending to the ground, vegetation that seems to want to occupy every available space and ancient ruins of an unknown civilisation struggling not to be swamped by the green forest.

This is more or less the common image of Cambodia, famous for its wilderness and ancient Khmer temples.

If you like adventure, you’ll find plenty to do in this country, as a volunteer and as a tourist, both on the urban routes and in the more remote areas.

Volunteering in Cambodia… for independent travellers!

Several of these opportunities offer a direct exchange, providing you with free food and accommodation in return for your volunteer efforts. However, some may ask for a daily or monthly contribution (many parts of Cambodia are still in development, so volunteering isn’t always without costs).

If your goal is to make a genuine, positive impact and you have a limited time to volunteer abroad, consider opting for opportunities that have a fee. Your contribution will support the local community both through your skills and a financial boost. Often, this choice benefits the community more than staying in a “Western-style” hotel or a touristy spot managed by international enterprises.
