Send the host/organization a message and wait for a reply.

Most of these opportunities and programs are free (you receive free food and accommodation in exchange for voluntary work). In certain developing areas volunteering opportunities in America might not be completely free. In these areas, hosts could charge a fee to help support the organization and provide the volunteers with their basic necessities.
