Aeroponics is a way of growing plants without soil and without traditional pots or containers. Instead of planting them in dirt or even in water (like in hydroponics), the plants’ roots are left hanging in the air, and they get all the water and nutrients they need from a fine mist thatโs sprayed directly onto them.
Imagine roots dangling in mid-air, and every now and then – psssht! – they get misted with a nutrient-rich solution. Thatโs basically aeroponics.
An aeroponic setup looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Tubes, misters, plants growing verticallyโฆ and no soil anywhere. But it works. In fact, itโs super efficient because the roots have constant access to oxygen, which they love, and the plants can grow faster and use less water than in traditional gardening.
People use aeroponics in greenhouses, vertical farms, and even in space missions (yep, NASA loves it).
Itโs clean, space-saving, and futuristic.
