Update: the hostel is currently looking for 1โ2 volunteers for the June period. Details can change, so always confirm conditions directly with the host.
Dreaming of a slower pace of life in rural Spain, far from busy nightlife and big city crowds? This hostel exchange in Andalucia invites easygoing volunteers to help run a cosy villa in Los Corrales, a small town surrounded by olive groves in the heart of Andalucรญa. It is a good option if farming is not your thing but you still want to connect with yourself, nature and a local Spanish community.
As a hostel volunteer you contribute around 20โ25 hours per week, with 2 days off. Typical tasks include helping at reception, basic cleaning and simple maintenance. A minimum stay of 10 days is requested, with a maximum of about 30 days. Basic Spanish is important since you will often be the first person guests meet at the front desk or on the phone.
What you receive
- Free breakfast and 10 euros per week for groceries (life here is very cheap)
- Bed in a 4 bed dorm with private bathroom
- TV, Wi Fi and access to a fully equipped kitchen
- Towels and bed linen included
- Use of the hostel swimming pool
- Bike available to explore the countryside
Extra opportunities
- Learn how a small hostel reception works
- Immerse yourself in Spanish, since almost everyone in town speaks it daily
- Possibility to bring a well behaved pet (mention this in your message)
What the area is like
Los Corrales is a tiny rural town, so do not expect clubs or a hectic nightlife. Locals enjoy tapas, small town festivals, walks and quiet evenings with movies or card games. From here you can visit many classic Andalucian highlights on your days off:
- Osuna 30 km
- Caminito del Rey about 35 km
- Ronda 60 km
- Mรกlaga 90 km
- Cรณrdoba 110 km
- Sevilla 115 km
- Granada 130 km
Travel and how to get there
The hostel is in Los Corrales and can be reached by bus or by hitchhiking if you enjoy adventure. Be aware that buses do not run at weekends, so plan your arrival on a weekday. From Mรกlaga or Madrid you can usually use the ALSA website or app to book tickets. From nearby towns such as Campillos or Antequera some volunteers choose to hitchhike the last short stretch.
Volunteer schedule
You usually help 4 to 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, with 2 days off to relax or explore. Tasks can include reception, simple cleaning and looking after common areas. Ask the host for available dates and more details about duties before confirming your trip.
