The mission of our NGO
Our mission is to partner with, support and strengthen at-risk families to increase the ability of families to stay together and thrive in their home community. We work mainly with newborns, malnourished infants and their families, and we, therefore, want mainly Medical Volunteers to work with us. But we also need help in grant writing and raising awareness of our NGO, too!
General info
This is a very real Volunteer experience. We are a small charity who are passionate about not fuelling the Voluntourism business, and are therefore only accepting Volunteers skilled in the areas we need. We can have a maximum of 2 Volunteers at a time, and you will live at our Volunteer House which also acts as one of our Programmes’ office. You will be immersed right into our NGO, and your time with us will be invaluable.

Work expectations
We want you to be motivated and ready to jump right in and help/give advice wherever is needed. We do not have a Volunteer Coordinator there year-round to ask you to do things, so you will be working with our American Directors and Tanzanian staff and using your initiative! Volunteers should be over the age of 22 who are aware, competent and confident to live in Tanzania.
Food and Accommodation
Food and accommodation are included in the daily fee.
What type of accommodation can you provide?
Shared bedroom.
Our Volunteer House has 1 bedroom which can have 3 Volunteers in. The other rooms in the house are a toy room, project office, kitchen, two bathrooms, dining/living area and outside the area.
Diet
We provide breakfast ingredients for volunteers to prepare themselves. (Oats, fruit, eggs, bread, tea and coffee). Lunch is local Tanzanian meals which are all vegetarian, but not vegan. There is also normally a Tupperware of pilau rice in the fridge for Volunteers to have alongside their own made dinner.

VISA
Yes, we can help with Visa
Volunteers Benefits
We offer you a chance to really be involved in all aspects of our NGO. It is a down to earth project with very passionate individuals running it who are fun, laid back and aiming for sustainability. We run projects which work, and which you will be a part of. We have a Volunteer Manual at the house full of weekend ideas, restaurants, cafes, safari company contacts etc.
What to do in the free time
Safari!
Arusha is the central hub of reaching all the big parks (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, etc.) Or climbing Mt Meru or Mt Kilimanjaro. Coffee tours in Moshi, waterfall hikes, swimming in hot springs, spending a day relaxing at one of the hotel pools here.
Language
Swahili and English
Geographic environment
We are in an area called Ngaramtoni ya Chini. We are very close to Arusha airport and around 20 minutes from the central town of Arusha. It is a quieter area and has a very nice shopping mall around a 5 minute taxi ride from the Volunteer House which has wonderful cafes, supermarkets, a gym, spa and a restaurant in.
How to get to your site
Volunteers can fly into either Kilimanjaro airport and then get a taxi to Sable Square mall (taxi is USD40.) Or, fly into Nairobi then bus to Arusha with Impala Shuttles (USD30) to Impala hotel and we will either pick you up from there or you can taxi to Sable Square mall where we will meet you.
Is there internet access?
No, we don’t have WIFI

Is this available year round? I would love to come help some when I can. I have many skills, master degree and spent 24.5 years in the Air Force and government and really would love to come feel my heart blossom while helping. I also learned a very tiny bit of Swahili while Iโm Kenya and would love to hear it again.
