Friends of Land Between the Lakes is the nonprofit partner of the U.S. Forest Service at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky and Tennessee. It supports education, habitat stewardship, and visitor programs at places like The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, the Elk & Bison Prairie, and the Golden Pond Planetarium.
Volunteering runs from trail work and shoreline cleanups to helping at events, assisting with admin, and monitoring the Elk & Bison Prairie. The organization reports more than 55,000 volunteer hours over the past five years and invites new volunteers to apply through its online form or by contacting the coordinator at volunteer@friendsoflbl.org
or 270-924-2007.
If you like wildlife and interpretation, Woodlands Nature Station recruits volunteers to greet guests, pitch in with animal care, tend gardens, and help deliver special programs such as Homeschool Days and Howl-o-ween. The Elk & Bison Prairie also has a âBugle Corpsâ seasonally highlighted in regional notices, alongside other options like trail assistance and litter cleanup.
Friends also organizes group and short-term efforts including shoreline and litter cleanups, Alternative Break trips, and volunteer photography, plus calls for help around National Public Lands Day. Announcements often direct interested people to message the Facebook page or email the volunteer coordinator listed above.
