We are a vibrant and international team ensuring the daily operations of this beautiful centre.

Volunteer at Centro D’Ompio in the north of Italy – Some of us have been here for over 20 years, and others come and go. Happy to welcome dedicated people that are looking for a different working place, where they can make a difference and work on themselves; we welcome people from all walks of life and age.

Apart from our volunteers, we have also permanent staff members who hold key positions and some of them also stay at the centre through the winter months.

We are always happy to welcome new people to our team if they bring the right mindset and motivation.

General description

Dear Voluntourists!

We are an international seminar centre and host groups from all over the world for the training of the integral meaning, reconnecting the nature, people and self.

Our Seminar house is run by a small international team.

Volunteers play a significant role at our place, helping to maintain facilities and services.

Over the past 30 years, our cultural association has developed into one of the leading international seminar centres for a wide spectrum of holistic and cultural courses.

We support holistic health, multicultural diversity, sustainability and consciousness development.

Location

We are located near the most romantic Lake in Italy, Lago d‘Orta (with breathtaking lake and mountain views), its UNESCO world heritage site, 90 km from Milan, 60 km from Locarno, Switzerland.

Volunteers & activities requested:

Monthly we host 6-12 volunteers helping us with our daily needs.

These needs include a variety of tasks such as

• kitchen help,
• cleaning,
• repairs,
• gardening,
• painting,
• doing laundry,
• ironing, etc.

We expect:

6 hours of honest and dedicated commitment 5 days per week.

In high season (late April- September) the days off are normally provided between Monday and Thursday and are planned a week ahead.

We expect 4-7 weeks of commitment.

Food & dietary

In exchange for your contribution, we provide tasty vegetarian meals, and rustic but charming accommodation in the village 15 minutes’ walk.

Accommodation

The accommodation is shared. The rooms have 2-4 single beds or one double bed for couples.

Sharing your skills

We particularly encourage the exchange of skills between the volunteers and arrange classes and workshops.

Would you be open to sharing your talents and skills with people from all over the world, we would be happy to provide some space for your creativity and sharing.

We do our best to keep the cultural, intellectual, intergenerational diversity and gender balance to make your stay meaningful, joyful and memorable.

Codes of Behaviour

We expect good ethics in relationships, respect, mental and physical presence at work and efficiency.

In high season the workload is sometimes quite intensive. Although we like everyone to be flexible and to help out in every department, you do usually several weeks on one department, then rotate.
We try to work efficiently, making use of defined working procedures in order to ensure consistent service delivery and quality.

The selection of volunteers is based on the information provided by them in the short application form that we kindly will ask you to fulfil.

Annually we proceed with more than 500 applications and invite around 100 volunteers per year.

Other projects/Positions

Currently, we are working on improving our operation, in order to provide better service and position the centre for the years to come.

For this, we are looking for people with the following profiles:

Administration support position

The office is the heart of our operation and could need reinforcement from a flexible and dynamic all-rounder with a good administrative and organizational background.

Previous experience in a similar operation would be ideal.

Languages requested for this position

Italian, English and German language skills are necessary.

General Coordinator / Manager position

In order to support our future growth, we are looking for a person that would like to take charge of the overall operation as of the 2019 season. Previous experience in a similar position and environment are required. We are looking forward to hearing from you: pius@ompio.org

This special program allows you to experience the Centro d’Ompio as a living and work environment.

We offer “Working Guests” cost-free limited stays of 4 to 6 weeks. For 25 hours of work per week over five days “Working Guests” receive room and board plus free participation in those of our programs you may wish to join. Work is of the following variety: kitchen help, washing up, housecleaning, gardening, or office work. Furthermore, there is the possibility of project-oriented collaboration. We would be glad if you would like to bring your experience and/or professional know-how (also in artistic areas) to the Centro d’Ompio.

The actual “gift” is day-to-day living with its intendant values. These are of great importance to us: communal living and working with attentiveness and joy, taking personal responsibility and developing of consciousness in an atmosphere of sustainability. In daily practice, these values are expressed in Sharings, meditation, Qi Gong and Yoga, communal singing and dancing, sweat lodges and many more activities.
