Viva la Vida Family is an Italian-Cambodian organisation working with vulnerable children and adolescents in and around Kampong Cham, Cambodia. Since 2017 they have built the Viva la Vida Cultural Center in a nearby village, with a school, sports areas and community spaces, and later expanded to a family home and other projects that support local families. Volunteers live in a simple volunteer house and help with education and recreational activities for Khmer children, as well as supporting community initiatives. The atmosphere is close to village life, with strong contact with local children and families. According to recent information, volunteers are asked to contribute a daily amount that covers food and accommodation and helps fund the projects, plus an initial donation, so this is not a free work exchange. Because the work involves vulnerable minors, applicants should ask detailed questions about safeguarding policies, supervision, daily tasks and minimum length of stay before committing.
