About the place

Salvatierra Lodge is described as a small lodge in a remote and powerful natural setting in Puerto Cisnes, Patagonia, close to the Northern Carretera Austral, Queulat National Park, the hanging glacier and local hot springs.

This seems to be a good fit for volunteers looking for a slower and more grounded experience, with daily life closely connected to nature.

Volunteer tasks

From August onward, the host is looking for volunteers to help build and prepare a vegetable garden from the ground up.

Tasks mentioned in the announcement include:

  • preparing soil and building garden beds;
  • building planters, fences and simple structures;
  • composting and preparing the area for spring planting;
  • cleaning and general daily operations in the lodge;
  • kitchen assistance and other practical help as needed.
Working hours

The host states that the work schedule is approximately 4 to 5 hours per day, 5 days per week.

This means volunteers should expect a practical and active experience, with enough free time to rest and explore the surrounding area.

What volunteers receive

According to the public post, volunteers receive:

  • accommodation at the lodge;
  • basic shared meals;
  • direct access to river, forest and mountain landscapes;
  • free time to explore the park, glacier and hot springs;

  • responsible and proactive;
  • comfortable with physical tasks;
  • interested in gardening and simple construction work;
  • happy to live in a remote location;
  • respectful of silence and natural rhythms.

Salvatierra | Training the Mind in the Wild

Volunteers wanted, from August 2026

We are a small lodge in a remote and powerful natural environment in Puerto Cisnes, Patagonia, along the Northern Carretera Austral, close to Queulat National Park (Hanging Glacier) and natural hot springs.

We offer a volunteering experience for people who want more than travel, a slower, grounded way of living and working in nature.

From August we are receiving volunteers to help us build our vegetable garden from the ground up:

  • Preparing soil and building garden beds
  • Building planters, fences, and simple structures
  • Composting and getting everything ready for spring planting

There are also support tasks around the lodge: cleaning, kitchen assistance, general daily operations.

Work is simple but important: approximately 4 to 5 hours per day, 5 days a week.

What you get:

  • Accommodation at the lodge
  • Basic shared meals
  • River, forest, and mountains at the door
  • Time to explore the park, glacier, and hot springs
  • A quiet, nature-based lifestyle

We are looking for responsible and proactive people, comfortable with physical tasks, respectful of silence and natural rhythms. This is a calm and remote place, not a party environment.

Important: remote location (travel planning required), no payment, exchange for accommodation and meals. Commitment and reliability are essential.

To apply, send us an email: contacto@salvatierralodge.cl
Please include your age and nationality, available dates (August onwards), relevant experience, and a short motivation, why this place resonates with you.

Salvatierra is not for everyone. But if you’re looking to disconnect from noise and reconnect with something more essential, this might be your place.

Location

The project is based in Puerto Cisnes, Aysén Region, Chile, in a remote Patagonian area with access to rivers, forests and mountain scenery.

This area is known for its spectacular landscapes and for being close to the Northern Carretera Austral and Queulat National Park. Because of the remote location, volunteers should plan their trip carefully and ask the host for up-to-date transport advice before travelling.
