Volunteer project in Uttar Pradesh teaching English in a girls’ school library | Pardada Pardadi

Girls at a rural India girls’ school in Uttar Pradesh listening to a lesson in the library with volunteer teachers

In the school library at Anupshahr, a group of girls listens closely during a special lesson led by local staff and visiting volunteers. The shelves are full of colourful books that support English practice, reading circles and storytelling activities. Volunteers who join this project in Uttar Pradesh help with simple language exercises, conversation games and confidence building so the students feel ready for higher studies and future jobs. The program works like a free volunteer exchange: in return for 4 to 5 hours of help from Monday to Friday, volunteers receive free food and accommodation in a private room on or near the school campus. It is a quiet, focused space where cultural exchange happens every day.
