This summer, SoLua Portugal is inviting a few more volunteers to join their small forest-based community for at least three weeks of shared living and meaningful contribution. We came across this opportunity through our Volunteer & hospitality exchange Facebook group, where the project was recently shared.
SoLua is a peaceful space nestled in nature, slowly and lovingly built to support off-grid living, creativity, and simple togetherness. The summer season includes a natural building workshop, a few small parties, and ongoing help needed with everyday tasks: setting up spaces, cooking, cleaning, and supporting daily rhythms.
Volunteers are offered a van to sleep in, along with shared meals. Itâs a rustic, communal lifestyle, ideal for those who enjoy being close to nature and taking part in small, collaborative projects.
Note that SoLua cannot provide visa support, so please apply only if youâre already in Portugal or legally allowed to stay. The minimum stay required is 3 weeks.

A note to prospective volunteers
Voluntouring.org promotes opportunities rooted in cultural exchange and mutual learning. Before applying, ask yourself: Is this a fair exchange, or could it replace paid labour? Choose consciously, ask questions, and make sure the experience is respectful, safe, and aligned with your values. Always check visa requirements â hosts cannot provide legal work permits.
