Founded in 2018, Murphy Charitable Foundation is a registered non-profit in Uganda, dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of marginalized individuals. Our primary focus is on Uganda’s Eastern and Northern regions, including the Bukedea district.
Murphy Charitable Foundation’s goal is to tackle the root causes of poverty by implementing impactful projects that grant vulnerable individuals access to essential resources such as education, healthcare, clean energy, clean water, and livelihood opportunities. We are dedicated to actively promoting economic empowerment, firmly believing that through collective efforts and strategic partnerships, we can help create a brighter, more equitable future for Ugandan communities, free from the clutches of poverty.

Our Volunteer Program in Uganda โ Engaging Activities:
- Pen Pal program: We also offer an engaging Pen Pal program where volunteers connect with local individuals, fostering cultural exchange and meaningful connections across borders.

- Empowering financial skills: Volunteers play a pivotal role in empowering women with valuable financial management skills, and facilitating the launch of small businesses.
- Educational support: Volunteers contribute to the educational growth of our partner schools by teaching subjects such as English, mathematics, or any other subject of their choice.

Guests can savour a variety of mouthwatering options, including Matooke (Bananas), Cassava, Sweet potatoes, rice, posho, Irish potatoes, beans, chicken, beef, kawo peas, fish, greens and a few other culinary delights.

Fee transparency ๐๐
We are delighted to provide full coverage of meal and accommodation expenses for our dedicated volunteers.
However, we kindly request you to come along with daily emergency funds of $10-$25 or more to assist you with other in-country expenses, including airport pick-up, local transportation, and other essential on-site costs. This contribution is essential to ensure a seamless and fulfilling volunteer experience, facilitating your personal adventure programs and addressing any unexpected needs, such as health emergencies, visits to adventurous locations, or dietary adjustments.

On the tour portion of the trip, volunteers will enjoy thrilling activities such as zip-lining, lake tours, game park visits, swamp exploration, hiking through national parks, and witnessing mesmerizing waterfalls and volcanoes.
This program provides a unique opportunity to combine international community service, experiential learning, and adventure.

During their leisure time, volunteers have the wonderful opportunity to explore the local communities, fostering meaningful interactions with residents while indulging in leisurely shopping excursions and participating in a myriad of engaging community events, should they desire to do so.

Teso Sub-region in northeastern Uganda is characterized by a diverse landscape of flat plains, rolling hills, and river valleys. It experiences a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, with heavy rainfall from March to November and a dry period from December to February. This region is rich in agriculture, with fertile soils supporting crops like maize, millet, sorghum, cassava, sesame, and groundnuts. Its varied environment includes savannah grasslands, woodlands, and pockets of tropical forests, home to diverse wildlife such as antelopes, monkeys, and birds.
Teso is an essential economic and ecological hub in Uganda.
How to get to your site โ ๐บ
To get to Bukedea Town in Eastern Uganda where one of our offices is located, start by taking a taxi from Entebbe Airport to Kampala. From Kampala, you have two options: you can take YY or Teso Coaches directly to Mbale, where our team will meet you. If you prefer a more personalized ride, we can arrange private transport for you.
Bukedea Town is located in Eastern Uganda, near Mbale, which makes it convenient for shopping, dining at local restaurants, and accessing an Internet cafe if needed.
