Quinta Regadinha is a natural farm located in the Serra da Estrela mountains of north-central Portugal, near the villages of Linhares da Beira and Figueiró da Serra.
Established in 2015 by a young couple experienced in sustainable farming, the farm aims to create a self-sufficient eco-community that harmonizes with nature. The farm encompasses approximately 15 hectares and integrates various sustainable practices, including organic agriculture, livestock rearing, bio-construction, eco-technology, arts, education, health, spirituality, alternative economics, and social tools.
Projects have included building yurts for living spaces, constructing a greenhouse dome, restoring existing structures for storage and workshops, and developing a stable for farm animals using local chestnut roundwood. The farm also maintains a vegetable garden with Hügelkultur beds and is in the process of establishing a food forest. Volunteers are welcomed at Quinta Regadinha to assist with various tasks such as gardening, animal care, building projects, and general farm maintenance. The typical volunteer commitment is around 3 hours per day, 5 days a week, with a minimum stay of two weeks. Accommodation is provided in the form of camping facilities, including tents, mattresses, and blankets, while volunteers are responsible for their own food. The farm offers fresh produce and eggs for purchase.
