Volunteering at CAFE WITH

Hello everyone, Cafe With is a language exchange cafรฉ where foreigners and Koreans can get together and learn more about each other’s cultures.
We have just started, and are trying to make our volunteers’ lives as easy as possible.
In Cafe With, not only will you meet like-minded travellers, but also Koreans who are interested in teaching you about their culture and learning about yours.
The job is fairly easy, as it mostly involves making conversation in English with our Korean members.
The cafรฉ is owned by Mr Lee and the dorm is managed by Brian.
What does the job involve?
The job involves making conversation with our Korean members and introducing your country’s culture.
What do you get out of it?
More than just a language exchange experience, volunteering in Cafe With will give you the opportunity to take on new hobbies and meet people from all over the world.
The cafe’s owner is a certified barista and offers free lessons for anyone who wants to learn about making coffee, from roasting coffee beans to preparing coffee.
We can also offer lessons in Korea calligraphy and traditional pottery.
Every Thursday, the cafe holds an international language exchange party where you will get to meet Koreans as well as foreigners (expats and travellers alike) from all over the world. It’s a great occasion to make friends and enjoy Busan as a local would.

We also hold a TED talk every Sunday as well as fan club parties for Kpop fans.
All in all, Cafe With is a melting pot of people and cultures, so if you’re friendly, open-minded, and love to learn about other countries, this is the perfect volunteering opportunity for you!
ย ย ย  What we offer:
We have three rooms (each with four beds in it):ย ย ย  We live in a big and spacious apartment in one of the liveliest neighbourhoods in Busan.
We provide beds, beddings, free wifi, cooking utensils, a washing machine + washing powder, as well as basic food (ramen, rice, and cereal)
  • ย ย ย  1 female room
  • ย ย ย  1 male room
  • ย ย ย  1 mixed room
What else can you do in Busan?
The cafe and the dorm are located right in the heart of the university area, and thus, have a lot of restaurants, bars, and interesting coffee shops around. After English practice, a lot of our volunteers like going for dinner or drinks with the Korean members, which gives them the opportunity to get to know them better in a more relaxed atmosphere.

The beach is near (Gwangalli beach is only 5 minutes away by metro and 20 minutes away on foot) and the party area (Seomyeon) is 15 minutes away by metro.

Busan is a beautiful city with some of the best landscapes in the country. You can enjoy the various hiking parks here, especially since most of them have great views on the sea. The area also has various cinemas, vintage clothing stores, karaoke rooms, nightclubs, and traditional markets, so you’ll never really be bored.

Some of Korea’s nicest traditional cities (such as Jinju and Gyeongju) are only an hour or two away by train or bus, so, weekend getaways are the norm here.

Finally, since we all stay in a dorm together, you have to be kind, open-minded, friendly, and able to live with people.

Minimum stay: 1 month (it is possible to extend your stay, just talk to Brian)

  1. Hi!
I am interested in your volunteer project. Currently actively involved in the Couch Surfing world volunteer group projects just completed another two English teaching and organics farm stay projects in Thailand.
Now resting at home base and eagerly looking out to other volunteering projects for the start of 2019.
Would like to find out more on your 2019 timelines perhaps some details on the volunteering works at Cafe With.
Look forward to hear from you soon.
    Kind regards,

  2. Hello!

I want to volunteer for this social coffee cafe. I am a senior photo-journalist from Mumbai and I teach at graduate level, I conduct heritage walks in Mumbai and write independently. I liked your concept and would like to take up this project. I am free from September 3 onwards and it would truly be an enhancing experience.

Would I get some help during visa application with some sort of letter with accomodation details, as is the requirement.

This would be really a learning experience.

    Warm regards,

    1. Dear Neeta ๐Ÿ˜Š
