Keep your Facebook group posts effective: some pitfalls to avoid ℹ️

This screenshot shows a link-only post in a Facebook group, and the big red X suggests it was declined. In volunteering abroad groups, link drops often get rejected because they look like promotion, trigger spam filters, or hide important details behind an external site.

Another common issue is fee transparency. Many “volunteer” links lead to pay-to-volunteer offers, agencies, or platforms that charge placement fees. If the post does not clearly state costs up front, moderators may remove it to protect members from surprises and keep the group focused on ethical, transparent opportunities.

How to share opportunities the right way
Write the key details in the post first (location, dates, tasks, hours, what’s included, and all costs). Upload a relevant image directly, like the place or the work setting, not just a logo. If there is any fee, say what it covers and who receives it.
