On Voluntouring, this tag is for projects physically based in a desert or desert-edge environment where the landscape and climate form a meaningful part of the experience. A project should not receive the tag simply because it is remote, located in a country with deserts or mentions desertification as an environmental or social issue.
Volunteering in desert environments
Desert projects can have very different living conditions. Accommodation may include houses, guesthouses, camps or tents, and access to water, transport, shops, internet and other services can vary considerably. Some locations may also experience large seasonal or day-to-night temperature changes.
