Ecupasil natural horsemanship volunteer opportunity in Extrema Dura, Caceres, Spain

Ecupasil staff member and a horse, teaching volunteers natural horsemanship

This volunteer project is based on Jose Luiseโ€™s ranch in Jaraรญz de la Vera, Extremadura, Spain. The farm spans 24 hectares where about 25 horses live freely, reflecting Joseโ€™s 20 years of experience in natural horsemanship. Grazina, who arrived while traveling 800 km with her horse Currito, chose to stay and help host volunteers. The main tasks involved building and repairing old stone houses to create accommodation, installing a shower, toilet, and outdoor kitchen, along with animal care, gardening, and general maintenance. Life on the farm is rustic, with volunteers initially sleeping in a saddle room, tents, or a partially restored house, bathing in lakes until facilities were completed. In return, volunteers received food, basic lodging, and the chance to ride daily, learn horsemanship, and practice Spanish in a traditional village setting. It is a cultural and equestrian immersion rooted in simplicity and nature.
