In memory of all those who over generations, tamed, cared for and loved this almost forgotten mountain
Hello, people interested in Natural construction. Quinta da Bazágueda is back on hosting volunteers from March 2021 onwards in the beautiful natural reserve of Serra da Malcata, the centre of Portugal.
At the moment we are specifically focused on restoring/building with the natural and local materials available: dry stone, clay, river sand and wood from our land in a very traditional way.
We also have to build a new electric fence for the animals.
Although this is the main work we need help with, the farm continues to go on its daily needs, so you will have a chance to see our animals grazing happily around, to get to know how we milk them, make cheese and so on…
Free time
There will be also plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, bath in the river, see wildlife, share and to get to know our way of living on a real farm.
✅Food & accommodation + educational farm exchange
❌No flights, VISA, invitation letter

Hi Marta,
I have just found your volunteering offer and felt it’s what I’m looking for. I’m on a break in my career and would love to spend some time in a beautiful place, helping with whatever is needed. Learning about natural constructions also sounds great. I’m not limited by time at the moment, so if you still looking for someone, I would appreciate, if you’ll get in touch.
Have a good day,
Paulina

Hello,
my name is Lorenzo, I’m 29 years old, and I’m from Italy.
I found your post exciting and I would like to help you with your project. Restoring and building in a Natural way is what I wanna learn to open, in the next future, a farm with my girlfriend. By the way, what are you doing now? What are the main work in which I could help you guys?
I’m a teacher at the middle school in Italy, but this year I decided to focus more on my interests, also because the goverment is doing very bad concerning school, so I decided to continue my journey. This summer I spent with my girlfriend almost two months around diffent farms in Italy and now I would like to continue this experience.
Let me know if we can talk a little bit more and hopefully meet in October

I’m Portuguese but living abroad, and I’d love to reconnect with my country through a volunteering project like this.
