This iconic spot is Ta Prohm, one of the most famous temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia.
It’s especially well-known for the massive Spung trees (Tetrameles nudiflora) that have taken root on and through the temple structures, creating a dramatic and otherworldly scene where nature and architecture seem locked in an eternal embrace.
Ta Prohm gained worldwide fame after being featured in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie, which is why some visitors refer to it as the “Tomb Raider Temple.”
What makes Ta Prohm stand out is that it was deliberately left in much the same condition in which it was found—unlike Angkor Wat or Bayon, which have been more extensively restored. This gives it a mysterious, jungle-claimed atmosphere that captures the imagination and makes it one of the most photogenic and evocative places in the whole complex.
