World Cleanup Day was created by the Letโs Do It World movement, which originated in Estonia. The initiative began in 2008 when a group of Estonian volunteers organized a massive one-day cleanup called “Letโs Do It!” to tackle the countryโs waste problem. On that day, around 50,000 people gathered to clean up 10,000 tons of waste in just five hours.
The success of this action inspired the creation of a global movement. In 2018, the first World Cleanup Day was officially launched, bringing together millions of people from around the world to take collective action against waste pollutionโ
